Certified Fireproofing for Oil & Gas

Certified Fireproofing for Oil & Gas - Pool Fire UL 1709 – Jet Fire ISO 22899 – Cryogenic ISO 20088

Design, specification, and installation of tested and qualified Passive Fire Protection (PFP) systems for structures and equipment in hydrocarbon facilities, based on defined threat scenarios and applicable regulatory requirements.

Passive Fire Protection Based on Critical Fire Scenarios

Design, specification, and installation of tested and qualified Passive Fire Protection (PFP) systems for structures and equipment in hydrocarbon facilities, based on defined threat scenarios and applicable regulatory requirements.

Certified Fire Protection for Critical Assets

Specialized passive fire protection (fireproofing) services focused on maintaining the structural integrity of critical assets during fire events in industrial plants, offshore platforms, terminals, and refineries. Each solution is engineered according to the specific thermal scenario (pool fire, jet fire, or cryogenic exposure), the element to be protected (steel structures, concrete, piping, or equipment), and project-specific conditions.

We hold manufacturer certification from AkzoNobel, a mandatory requirement for the application of their passive fire protection coatings. This accreditation ensures installation in full compliance with manufacturer standards. The process includes the selection of tested systems, thickness calculations, defined construction methods, and on-site quality control, ensuring compliance with international standards, full traceability, and verified performance.

Scope of Service Includes

  • Definition of the Design Basis:

Identification of the applicable thermal exposure scenario (UL 1709, ISO 22899-1, ISO 20088), asset conditions, and client requirements.

  • Technical Specification of the PFP System:

Selection of the product and system configuration based on test qualification, compatibility with existing coating systems, and service environment.

  • Thickness Calculation and Construction Details:

Defined according to element geometry, severity of the thermal scenario, applicable test standards, and required fire resistance duration.

  • Installation Procedure and ITP:

Surface preparation, application, curing, thickness control, verification of mechanical anchorage, system continuity, and inspection records.

  • Compliance Inspection and Final Dossier:

Material traceability, inspection reports, non-conformance records, close-out documentation, and regulatory compliance evidence.

Applicable Standards and Codes

  • UL 1709 – Fire resistance test for hydrocarbon fire exposure (Pool Fire)
  • ISO 22899-1 – Jet fire resistance test (directional flame and high heat flux)
  • ISO 20088 – Cryogenic exposure testing (spray and spill scenarios)
  • API 2218 – Recommended practice for fireproofing application in process facilities
  • NORSOK M-501 – Requirements for surface preparation, application, and inspection of protective coating systems

Typical Deliverables

  • PFP system design basis according to the applicable thermal scenario and technical specification.
  • Installation procedure and Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) with acceptance criteria.
  • Final dossier including material traceability, inspection records, execution photographs, and compliance certification.
